Forum Title: removing cast iron flange
hi everybody, i need to remove the cast iron flange and replace before re-installing subfloor. i'm attaching pictures of what i have. my question is do i remove just the flange or do i remove the entire piece that's connected to the cast iron bend? i was not prepared to find the big attachment to the bend and i'm not sure what it is. if i can remove just the flange, what is the best way to do that without damaging the pipe? i'm thinking of cutting it off with a rockwall oscillating tool but open to any suggestions. here's a picture of what i have. thanks in advance! cub

cut it 2'' from the top of the hub. then go back with a 4'' cast x 4'' pvx proflex band 4''ci x 4'' plhttp://screencast.com/t/lW0eLvCiiypq then, install a pvc closet flange, screwed to the floor with BRASS screws not sheet rock screws..they rust the flange needs to sit on the finished floor, so if you are installing tile the bottom of flange needs to be 1/2'' above sub floor shim it..till you tile it, then pull shim..savy?
